For the record, the pursed mouth and bemused expression (on Roger, anyway) are due to a mouthful of orthodontic hardware and rubber bands and so on left over from jaw surgery, and are in no way a reflection on Roger's actual state of mind. (You wouldn't want to see a big smile with all the gadgetry showing.)

James' expression, on the other hand, might well reflect his reaction to the current state of affairs. We just don't know.
